Biography:

 Donald P, Carey 78, of Brunswick, Maine passed peacefully on August 21, 2024, surrounded by his wife, Sheila of 28 years.  

Donald was born on November 9, 1945, in LeMars, Iowa to Mark Carey and his mother Lucille Anderson. Donald attended Marcus Public Schools for his primary and secondary education. He attended Northwestern College of Orange City, IA for two years and graduated from University of Northern Iowa in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree.

Donald was dedicated to his career. He worked as a Commercial Lines Underwriter at several large commercial insurance companies. He earned several insurance designations, AU-Associate Underwriter, ARM- Associate in Risk Management, and CPCU-Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter. He also earned the designation of CIC- Certified Insurance Councilor.

Donald in his spare time enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling around the country in their motorhome with wife Sheila and their three dogs.  In his earlier years he owned two German Shepard dogs. He was involved in training them under the German Police Dog Training Code of Discipline known as Shutzhund.

Donald married Sheila, May 17,1996 at the Standish Methodist Church in Standish, Maine

He is predeceased by both his parents Mark Carey and Lucille Anderson, a sister Jane Carey Bryant as well as two infant sisters, Betty and Patricia and his nephew Tim Carey.

He is survived by his Wife Sheila D. (Learnard) Carey, two stepsons Jeremy Huston and Ryan Cox, a granddaughter Haley Cox and a grandson Nikolai Cox. Three brothers Robert and wife Nancy of Marion Iowa. John and wife Esther of Marcus Iowa and Richard and wife Jane of Tucson Arizona.

There will be a committal service at the Sawyer Cemetery in Durham, Maine at a later date. Please share condolences to Funeral Alternatives.net
