Alice Upton Campbell

1927-2023

Alice Campbell, 96, formerly of Huston Street, Lisbon Falls, died Sunday, December 24, 2023 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn, Maine.

Alice and her husband resided in Freeport for more than 30 years before moving to Lisbon Falls where she resided until she was 91 and then moved to Avita of Brunswick.

She was born in Freeport, Maine, December 11, 1927 the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Greer) Upton. She grew up in Pownal, attended area schools and graduated from North Yarmouth Academy.

Alice and  Zane G. Campbell Sr. met in Freeport and were married on October 31, 1948. She worked at Freeport Shoe, Songo Shoe, and L.L.Bean in the boot department. She worked for L.L.Bean for 20 years and retired at 62. Her favorite past times were spending time with her family and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband during their retirement years.

Alice is predeceased by her mother Elizabeth Upton, father Fred Upton, husband Zane G Campbell Sr.., brother Fred Upton Jr. and granddaughter Amanda Campbell.

She is survived by her sisters Olive Bruins of California and Elaine Van Lieu of New Jersey. Her children Zane Jr and his wife (Diane) of Lisbon Falls, Kim Williams and her husband (Randy) of Durham, Lynn Campbell of Topsham. Grandchildren Nicole Baade of Bowdoin, Scott Keller of Jacksonville Florida, Staci Groves of Durham, Cari Keller of Durham, Zane III of Lisbon Falls and Kari Campbell of Brunswick. Great Grandchildren Alexa Harmon, Ashley Harmon, Tanner Herman, Robyn Merrill, Hannah Groves, Zane Campbell IV, Brianna Campbell, Trevor Campbell, Emily Groves, Wyatt Baade, Alex Keller and Lily Keller.

The family wants to thank everyone at Avita, Mid Coast Hospital and Androscoggin Hospice House for their loving care and support.

There will be a private family gathering at the graveside in the Spring.
