Virginia Huntington Burgess

Date of Death: August 28, 2021

Date of Birth: November 13, 1927

Biography:

Virginia Huntington Burgess (93) of Auburn, Maine quietly passed away Saturday, August 28, with family by her side. She was born November 13, 1927 in Calais, Maine and was the daughter of Leonard A. Huntington Sr. and Daisy Denbow Huntington. She married Jasper A. Burgess on January 18, 1946 after his return from serving in the US Army during WWII. Virginia worked in a multitude of jobs, but her greatest joy was caring for her children and her many grandchildren. Virginia was a member of Court Street Baptist Church and was a very active member of the crafting group, the weekly bible study group and the choir. Her deep faith guided her through life. She enjoyed traveling with her children, sewing Raggedy Ann and Andy for all the grandchildren, crafts and camping. She especially took great pleasure in the weekly trips to the nearest ice cream stand. She was predeceased by her husband Jasper and two sons, Michael and Randy Burgess; her sisters Dorothy and Francis Huntington; Majorie Star and Margret Elizabeth Laquidara. She is survived by Leonard and Donna Burgess of Brooksville, Florida; Sherry and Richard Nehiley of Auburn; Steven and Nancy Burgess of Minot; Daniel and Sarah Burgess of Bowdoin; Melody Chandler of Bowdoin, ME; three generations of grandchildren (83) and her brother, Leonard and Carole Ann Huntington of Auburn, Maine. Heaven gained an angel tonight and the choir is singing her praise. With a heart of gold and faith that's unwavering in everything that she portrays. Her trust in the Lord and her desire to serve Him secured her a spot by His side. Through trials and heartache, she still stood beside Him holding His name with pride. After 93 years, some would say it was long, but in the end it still feels so quick. Nothing can take away the affliction, even knowing that she had been sick. Our hears are still saddened, our minds are still racing and playing back all of the guilt, “I should have gone more often to sit right beside her to hear the life that she built.” As we lay you to rest, a grandmother to many, the tears are sure to be found. The memories we hold will be shared with the family and anyone else that's around. Goodbyes are not eternal and we know that our time will come to see you again. The question is not, “where will we see you,” the only question is when. For now, sweet Virginia, we know you rest easy in the vast Heavens above. In our hearts we will hold you and ask you to watch over your family and friends with love. Love, Sheena
