Suzanne Boras
Date of Death: November 7, 2024
Date of Birth: June 7, 1941
Biography:
" I was here. I did it. I'm done."
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much beloved mother Suzanne Boras of Raymond Maine. Born in Michigan on June 7, 1941, she was a strong force in the DNC and women's and Civil Rights movements of the 1960s and 1970s. After a lifetime of advocating for others' rights, it is our strong belief that with the impending administration change she felt it was time to go and passed on the morning of November 7th, 2024. She leaves behind her three children, Sydney Shriver of Beverly Farms, Massachusetts and her two sons Tyler and Garrett, Alizah Shriver and husband Nathan Worthing of Raymond Maine and their children Gavriella, Noah and Taliah, and Joshua Shriver and his partner Toni Shaw of Raymond Maine and their daughter Elsa.
She was a strong believer in the immense power of education for all and once her children were older, she went back to school to obtain her Master's degree and began her career for the benefit of helping others. She was well respected and widely known as an advocate for both children's services and adult mental health and substance abuse for the state of Maine, and chose not to formally retire until the age of 79.
Our mom loved her role as "Bubbie" and found immense joy in spending time with her 6 grandchildren. She loved the ocean, gardening, antiques, reading, championing the underdog and plum wine. We will miss her every day, but her amazing strength and legacy lives on through her children, and her grandchildren.
Services will be private amongst the immediate family. Donations on her behalf may be made to the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals, or The Good Shepard Food bank.
