Janice Vivian Bigelow

Biography:

Janice Vivian Bigelow passed away June 10, 2022 in Auburn at 88 years of age. Janice was a longtime resident of Minot where she raised two children Kathy and Earl. She is survived by brother Peter Spencer of Spencer, MA and sister Sylvia Gruner of West Berlin, NJ. Janice has three grandchildren Nathan and Justin Rybeck and Brianna Bigelow all of Maine and a great grand child Lincoln. She was born in Auburn the daughter of Merlin Bickford and Helen Bickford in 1933 and lived most of her life in Maine where she loved the wilderness, along with horses and dogs which she trained for showing and service. Janice was passionate about outside activities like camping, hiking and long distance bicycle trips. She sampled many things in her life even flying in her later years. In her fifties she built her own log cabin in Minot where she lived until her passing. At 43 she graduated from Becker Junior College in Worcester, MA and then in 1983 received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Maine. She was a physical therapy assistant at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway and then a special education teacher for the Auburn School Department until retirement. Her life can be described as full and colorful and maximizing all of the fun and thrill that life can bring.
