Paul Roland Berube

Biography:

Paul Roland Berube died peacefully at his home on Dec. 28th surrounded by his family after a series of medical ailments over the past few months. He was 74 years old.

Paul was born in Lewison on January 27h, 1948, the son of Walter and Antoinette Brissette Berube. In 1966 he met his loving wife of 55 years and they got married the following year. At 19 years of age he entered the Navy and was a flagman on the USS Springfield during the Vietnam war. Subsequently, he studied to obtain his GED and a bachelor's degree from University of Maine in Farmington in Education. For 30+ years he was a 6th grade teacher in the Lewiston school system where he not only taught multiple generations of students but got to enjoy his love of sports by coaching basketball during his tenure. In his time off, he would participate in a softball league with other members of the community. Upon retirement, he continued to enjoy being a handyman and doing home improvement projects for not only himself but for multiple family members and friends. One of Paul's primary interests was hunting which he enjoyed doing with his brothers and nephews. Always the storyteller, he very much enjoyed sharing his memories. He will always be remembered for his constant smile and laughter.

The family extends a special thank you to the caring doctors and staff at Massachusetts General Hospital, Central Maine Medical Center, Russell Park Manor and Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice as well as his spiritual guide and friend, Chaplin Joe. Paul's passing was a journey that was touched by many loving hands.

Paul is survived by his wife, Diane; son Dan of Litchfield; daugher Donna Temple and her husband Jim of Portland, grandchildren Sarah and Hunter, special nephew Curt Berube. Brothers, Maurice; Thomas with wife Pauline; Ernest; Laurier with wife Michelle; Ronald with partner Laurie; and sister, Patricia and many loving neices and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 3 from 4-6 p.m. At Funeral Alternatives, 25 Tampa St., Lewiston.
