Biography:

Lewiston- Elly Leona Bennett, 82, of Auburn, died on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011 at CMMC.

Elly was born in Lewiston on Sept. 19, 1929, the daughter of Guy and Gladys (Wile) Seger.

Elly worked in local shoe factories, and throughout her life, she was an avid member of Marston’s Corner Baptist Church.  She was well-known for her cooking, and enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and playing Yahtzee.  Elly supported many local community programs.

Elly was predeceased by her husband Wesley Bennett Sr., sons; Wesley Bennett Jr. and Richard Bennett Sr., grandson Richard Bennett Jr., and many brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her son Jeffrey Bennett and his wife Robin of Gorham, daughter Deborah Hallowell and her husband Greg of Auburn, daughter-in-law Charie Barker, sister Norma Foster, brother Rudy Seger, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Elly’s life on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 at 3pm at Marston’s Corner Baptist Church, 752 Beech Hill Road, Auburn, ME 04210.
