Biography:

Frederick J. Barber, 72, of Pownal died September 17, 2024 in Lewiston after a brief cancer illness. His loving wife, Jeane was at his side. Fred was born February 16, 1952, in Newark, New Jersey, the son of George and Mary Lyons Barber. Fred attended schools in Mount Holly, New Jersey and was a graduate of Nasson College, Springvale, Maine. Fred retired from L.L. Bean in 2017 after 20 years as a customer service research and resolution representative. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Fred loved music and enjoyed playing golf, fishing, walking with his cat, cutting the grass and keeping the home grounds, fields, flowers and trees beautiful. Fred also enjoyed the surrounding nature of feeding the wild birds, watching wildlife, and the deer that came into feed under the apple trees. He is survived by his wife, Jeane Fitz Barber of Pownal, his daughter, Jessica L. Barber of Berkeley, California and was predeceased by his daughter, Kristina Barber, brother, George Barber and his parents George and Mary Barber. A graveside committal will be held in Pownal at the convenience of the family.
