Terri Lynn Aucoin
Date of Death: October 10, 2024
Date of Birth: November 9, 1974
Biography:
On October 10, 2024 Terri Lynn Aucoin (49), of West Bath Maine, unfortunately lost a fierce and courageous 26-month battle to Stage IV Triple Negative Breast Cancer, one of the most aggressive forms of this terrible disease. Despite enduring many life-preserving procedures that included chemotherapy (Brunswick, ME), mastectomy (Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA), radiation (Bath, ME), additional rounds of chemotherapy, and brain radiation. The treatment she received was no match for this extremely persistent and fast-moving disease.
Terri was born in Pax River, Maryland to her parents Harold “Buck” Inman and Janice Inman, and grew up in Lisbon Falls, ME. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1994 where she was a dedicated athlete playing soccer, basketball, and softball. Here she met her life-long Lisbon Falls girlfriends, affectionately known as her “LF Girls”, Beth, Jill, Katie, Kerry, and Sherry. In addition to being coined “Teacher’s Pet”, Terri would want to remind all of the LF Girls that Lisbon High School is where she also attained the coveted “student of the month” award, not once but twice (1993/1994)! It was also where Terri reportedly saved the big game for the soccer team her sophomore year, allowing them to tie Dexter for the state class “B” soccer championship; where they were co-champs that year! There were many girls’ weekends away with her “LF Girls” that kept her husband Jason hopping at home with the children until her much anticipated return.
She went on to achieve a higher education at Husson College (Bangor, ME). This is where she met her life-long college girlfriends, Cara, Carrie, Nina, and Sandi. She then attended Webber College (Babson Park, FL), and finished at the University of Southern Maine (Lewiston, ME campus) where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Organizational Studies (August, 2000). It should be noted that while completing her college career and acquiring her degree, she was simultaneously raising her young daughter, Alesha, which is testament to her unbelievable drive and determination as a young woman.
Terri had an incredible work ethic which was evident from a young age. She started working in a private home setting as a healthcare aid (Lisbon Falls, ME); Photo & Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens (Kissimmee, FL); Front Desk Receptionist, at The Atrium Motel (Brunswick, ME) (This is where she and Jason met and their story began. It was often told that Jason convinced the general manager/now close family friend, Eric Baade, to hire her after seeing her for the first time when she arrived for her job interview); Office Manager, Maplewood Mobile Homes (Brunswick, ME); Office Manager, Harbor Technologies (Brunswick, ME); and her final position at Bath Iron Works, where she worked as a Principal Supply Chain Specialist in the Department of Procurement (Bath, ME 2015 - 2024). It was here where she met and befriended many co-workers and professionals for whom she had much admiration and respect. Terri continued to work full time throughout her entire illness. It was very important to her that she continue providing for her family and did so tirelessly until as recently as September 2024.
Terri showed unconditional love and support to all, especially her friends and family. Nothing meant more to Terri than making memories with family, specifically her three children whom she always carved out time for, no matter the circumstances or the time of day. She was the absolute definition of “unconditional love”, always putting their needs in front of her own. Terri was an inspiration to her kids and was a second mom to many others who knew her.
She and Jason spent nearly every wedding anniversary with their honeymoon friends, Charlie and Colleen, whom they met on their Bermuda cruise following their 2002 Maine weddings. It was the start of a very special and oftentimes adventurous friendship. Terri enjoyed many leisure time activities such as camping, day-hiking, kayaking, moped riding, and ATV riding. She attended as many of her children’s sporting events as she could to include cheering, soccer, softball, football, basketball, and baseball games. At these games she was always an excited and sometimes vocal spectator (sorry refs). Terri made a pastime of backseat driving whenever Jason was at the wheel, usually criticizing him for not going fast enough to her children’s events. Terri was also an avid animal lover having a wide variety of pets over the years to include cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, a rat, a pony, a raven, chickens, and ducks. Her latest beloved pet and family member, Cooper, a ten year old chocolate lab/golden retriever mix, whom she arguably loved snuggling on the couch with more than Jason.
Terri is survived by her husband of 22 years, Jason T. Aucoin of Bath, ME, and their three beautiful children, Alesha Edman (27), Gabriel Aucoin (20), Colten Aucoin (15), a son-in-law, Paul Edman, and her first grandbaby boy who is due in March of 2025. In addition to her spouse and children, Terri is survived by her parents, Harold and Janice Inman, of Lisbon Falls, ME, her sister Brenda Hager and husband Ron, of Turner, ME, and brother, James Inman and wife Elaine of Randolph, ME. Terri’s in-laws include Joseph and Donna Aucoin of Topsham, ME and brother and sister-in-law, Jeremy Aucoin and wife Christine of Wolfeboro, NH. Terri also had many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends with whom she was very close. One special friend she was in touch with on a daily basis was her dear friend and confidant, Erika. It was often joked that Erika got more daily phone time than her daughter Alesha, who called regularly twice a day, at noon and 5:00 pm.
Terri had a radiant and infectious smile that carried her through her whole life, one that could light up the darkest of rooms. She was an absolute joy to know and love, she will be forever missed by all who were lucky enough to have had her touch their lives.
A celebration of Terri’s incredible life is set to take place on Saturday October 26, 2024 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at the Bath Country Club, 387 Whiskeag Road, Bath, Maine, 04530, where all are welcome. There will be light refreshments provided. In lieu of flowers her family suggests a donation to the Morse High School Sports Boosters as she was extremely supportive of the Shipbuilder athletic programs, which caused her to trade in her Greyhound colors for Morse Blue and White.
