Biography:
STANDISH - David Charles Arnold, 69 of Standish, passed away January 15, 2015, at Maine Medical Center, surrounded by his family, following a brief illness. He was born on October 6, 1945 in Augusta, Maine to the late Clyde and Madeline (Harrington) Arnold. David was raised in Manchester, Maine and attended Winthrop and Hall-Dale High School.
David carried on the Standardbred Harness Racing family tradition; he held various positions at the harness race track, from an Associate Judge, a Starter, a Trainer to a Track man. He was a young boy when he started with the harness horse business; he was known to help his dad jog the horses up and down Puddledock Road in Manchester, back when it was just a gravel road. David was an avid card player and was always up for a game of cribbage or a poker game. He also enjoyed fishing, taking his naps and trying his luck at daily scratch tickets.
David was predeceased by his parents, twin brother Dana Arnold, Brother Raymond Arnold, and Sisters Patsy Farnham and Tamara Getchell. David is survived by sons, Joseph Arnold, his wife Amanda, and children Zachary, McKayla, and McKenzie; and Ken Arnold and his son Cameron; daughter Jamie Switzer and her daughters Hannah and Brooke; a sister Gloria Starks along with nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held this spring.
