Kenneth Lee Alden

Date of Death: February 21, 2023

Date of Birth: June 30, 1932

Biography:

Kenneth Lee Alden Sr., 90, passed away peacefully at the Androscoggin Hospice House on February 21, 2023.  He was born on June 30, 1932, on his father's birthday, to John and Charlotte (Sherman) Alden of Auburn.

Ken graduated from Edward Little High School in 1950 where he held records for ski jumping. In Sunday school he met the love of his life, Natalie Louise Getchell and they were married on September 4, 1954, after he served his country in the United States Air Force.  They settled in Leeds where they raised three sons.  Ken's hobbies included skiing, camping, motorcycling with their friends Dana and Linda Cook, snowmobiling, racing and tinkering. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1992.

Throughout Ken's life he loved telling stories and sharing memories, silly sayings and jokes with his children and grandchildren and anyone who would listen.  Even though suffering from dementia, he fondly spoke of his 90th birthday party that "everyone" attended.

Ken is survived by his wife, Natalie, sons, Kevin (Deb), Kenneth (Lise) and Kristopher (Allyson) as well as  eleven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brother John Alden III.  He was predeceased by his sister Milldred (Alden) Papworth.

There will be no funeral or memorial service.  Instead, the family has chosen to recognize Ken's 90th birthday party last summer as a celebration of his life.  Many of his friends and family members were able to attend and he thoroughly enjoyed the gathering.

The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to Androscoggin Hospice House in Ken's name.  Natalie and her sons would like to share a special "thank you" to the entire staff of the Hospice House for their care and dedication to Ken's dignity at the end of his life.
