September 1, 2022 | Martha Herbert Izzi - Chestnut Hill, Mass. -- USA

I shall always remember your smile and our talks at Isle La Motte especially. Over many years, we put the world to right. Your interest in so many aspects of life was a joy to share and I have missed you and Ann whom we all cared for so much. Together you were bright lights in our lives.

August 30, 2022 | Daniel Joyce - Bowdoinham, Me. -- United States

I will remember Lee for his inner strength to want to be with his friends in a game of golf when he lost control of his walking and I know he had falls but he seemed to shrug it off as something to be coped with and we love his tenacity.

August 28, 2022 | Carol Evans - Topsham, Maine -- USA

I will remember Lee's smile and good humor, even in the face of so many health challenges in the last few years. He loved to laugh. When we moved to a house on his street, Lee reached out to my husband and encouraged him to join the golf scramble which he did. Lee also often called to offer a reminder and a ride to the men's lunches in our community at Highland Green. He always enjoyed the group dinners at the pub on Wednesdays and liked to sit at the head of the table and interact with everyone. We never knew Ann but he often mentioned her and how they enjoyed watching Julia Child cook and then trying the same recipe. He will be much missed.

August 27, 2022 | Nancy and Stuart Murphy - Boston, Massachusetts -- United States

Oh, Lee. How we miss you. There you were, always one of the first to greet us on our arrival at Isle La Motte, always ready to lend a hand as we unpacked, always having brought lots of ice and a great big cooler, always working hard on your own meal and then willing to help others with theirs, and always ready with a little jab and a great big hug. We treasured our times with you and Ann, and our family times with Randy and Kristin, and Bryan and Courtney, over so many wonderful years. Love, Nancy and Stu

August 26, 2022 | Selby Turner jr - Isle La Motte, Vermont -- Grand Isle

What a guy!!!
Spent many hours rocking together on the front porch kibitzing about everything and everybody. When he wasn’t here, we spoke by phone. One of the other of us would miss company and call. Always a joke, teasing and serious discussions about health and family.
I miss you man ❤️❤️

August 26, 2022 | Maureen Turner - Isle La Motte, Vermont -- US

Thank you, Courtney for the thoughtful and informative obituary for your father. Lee was very proud of you and your brother, Bryan and spoke lovingly about you both whenever the opportunity presented itself, as well as his initiating his re- count of your latest events!

Selby and met both your Mom and Dad over 50 years ago when our mutual friend, Elissa Della Piana initiated inviting them to come to a July 4th celebration at Isle La Motte in its early beginnings of becoming an annual event - since 1970! As you know and have attended too- the 4th was initially just for RISD graduates and significant others- including children and pets! Your Dad and Mom would often come “the day before festivities were to begin “ to get a good tent site!” And, after your Mom passed, he carried that tradition on to include bringing dinner the night before. As his walking became more labored, we reserved the one downstairs guest room for Lee for easier access to the amenities. More recently, he also had claim on one of the 2 rockers on the front porch where he would hold court!

This July 4th a sign made by Charlene Landis hung in the back of his chair:
For Lee
ROCK and REMEMBER

And remember we did and told our favorite stories of Lee to each other! His presence will always be with us, as will his rocking chair sign mark his place, always.

Love and hugs to all of Lee’s Family and many, many friends,

Maureen Turner
