Val was my closest friend for 52 years, having forged an unbreakable bond when we met at age 18 as college roommates. Once I moved from Maine, we spoke on the phone regularly. We were intending to see each other this August when I travel back to Maine. I am beyond heartbroken. My deepest sympathy and love to Mike and Ben in this time of sadness and mourning.

I am very sorry to learn of Valerie's passing. She was a dear friend of mine during our four years at Bates, continuing our close friendship for many years afterwards. Though we had not been in touch for almost 20 years, I am deeply saddened by her death. My condolences to Mike and Ben and all of those who loved this very special person.

She was a fun and vibrant personality in the fabric of our church. She was much too young to die. In fact, we were the same age. I will miss her love, light and laughter. I need to believe that now, in spirit, she will join our Search Team. That Val will be an amazing Guardian Angel, looking out for our best interests as we search for a settled minister.
