I loved Aunt Frances for a thousand and more reasons. If the meal at our house wasn't to my liking I could eat with Aunt Frances/Uncle Ralph, when the boys wanted to tease, they'd leave snakes on the steps--we'd hear the screams and think that they were awful (you were!), she always had time for us and our questions, got us vegetables from her garden, showed us how to make sweaters on her loom, and fascinated me with her foot peddle sewing machine.
When I left to live in Mass. I always felt so welcomed back when I'd walk over to say hi. She loved her peonies along the ledge and to remember her always, I planted pink ones along my side property--every spring there they are--Aunt Frances' pink peonies! They are a living reminder of how beautiful she was.
