Biography:

AUBURN It is with sadness that we announce the passing, on July 14, 2023, of Robin Rasala Smutny, 81, residing at Clover Manor in Auburn, Maine. Robin was born on May 5, 1942, the only child of Helen and Theodore Smutny in Astoria, Queens, New York. She attended schools in Oceanside, New York and worked as an engineer in a number of companies, most notably Sony in New York and Kirschners in Augusta, Maine. She loved to tinker with machinery and experiment with recipes, especially for popovers!

Robin was a shy, introverted person who loved cats, working on her old Ford truck and improving the home she shared with Brenda for 38 years. Robin also loved her church, the First Universalist church in Auburn and found much comfort and support there during her many challenges over the years. Robin was predeceased by her parents and her beloved wife, Brenda Northrop Smutny. Robin leaves behind her oldest friends, Tom and Lynn Duby, and her heartfelt wishes for peace and love to all who knew her. Arrangements are entrusted to Funeral Alternatives of Lewiston, Maine. At her request there will be no service but her friends will gather to celebrate her life at a later date.
