Biography:
Dorothy Dressler—Windham—Dorothy Dressler, of Windham passed away on January 16, 2018 in Scarborough, Maine. She was born on March 24, 1940 in Ventnor City, NJ a daughter of Thomas and Margaret Sharp Toland. Dorothy was a graduate of Holy Spirit High School in Atlantic City, NJ. She worked on the steel pier in Atlantic City where she met many celebrities. Dorothy worked for the FAA for fifteen years. It was during this time she had a personal encounter with Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey. At the FAA Dorothy worked as a simulator operator and then as a computer operator. It was there that she met the love of her life, Jim Dressler and they had 43 years of a happy marriage. Dorothy won many trophies for dancing at the Melody Lounge in Atlantic City. She immensely loved to dance. Jim and Dorothy started their family in New Jersey where they had three daughters, Lisa, Dorothy and Inga. Dorothy and Jim became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1974. She was an active member of her local congregation throughout her life. Survivors include her husband, Jim, children, Lisa and husband, Scott, Dorothy and husband, Bob, Inga and husband, Andy, grandchildren: Holly, Ryan, Daniel, Cody, Dylan and Will, two great grandchildren: Hunter and Isabella and also many nieces and nephews including Jill, Noelle, Anna Maria, Greg, Mary and Cathy and her lifelong childhood best friend, Judy George. Dorothy was predeceased by her five siblings. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 516 Roosevelt Trail, Windham.
