Dear Lee, Linda, and Lisa:

It was with great sadness that I recently heard of your Dad's passing. I worked for/with FRED for twenty some odd years,at BATES,
as a matter of fact he hired me on my second time around. He was a great man, passionate and fair to everyone. My sincere condolences to all of you.

October 27, 2013 | Honorable John Jenkins - Auburn, Maine -- USA

Our community and its people have benefited greatly from Fred's service-leadership. His vision, work-ethic, and compassionate service strengthened the 'social fabric' that we call community. Thank you Lebel Family for sharing a dear friend to many. You shall remain in our prayers of appreciation. Peace, Honorable John Jenkins (former Mayor of Lewiston and Auburn).

As a classmate of Fred's, graduating in '49, it's impossible not to think and reminisce about the Blue Devils' football teams of those years without Fred at the forefront of one's thoughts! He truly was an all-round athlete, also excelling in track, baseball, and hockey. I left the state after my college years so I never had the opportunity to follow Fred's amazing contributions to the city of Lewiston. But having known him during those four years as a fellow '49er, I can see where his honesty and enthusiasm for the project-at-hand, his hard work ... made him the successful person that he developed into.
Much love and prayers to Fred's family and friends.

I met Fred only a couple of years ago while making a sales call at his plant. I immediately found him to be a charming fellow and very open to new ideas. Before much time had passed,I recognized him as one of the "gentlemen" of the business world that are difficult to find in these times. He will surely be missed by family, friends, all all business associates.
Tony Lampron.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the families of Fred Lebel. I am saddened today to hear of his passing. He was an inspiration to me and his affinity and fondness for the gentlest of textiles will hold a place in my heart forever. I consider myself blessed to have met Fred and worked with him at Bates of Maine. I treasure the memories and wish happiness and healing to Linda, Lisa, Lee and their families. It is an absolute honor to him that the textile facility in Monmouth be named after him. How wonderful. He will forever be proud. God Bless.

I knew Fred for several years as a volunteer for Museum L-A. He was very accommodating in granting permission for tours to see the weaving process and was very informative, not only on tours but also for Museum L-A. I feel that the community lost a lot of history with the loss of Fred and I feel I lost a friend.
My prayers are with the family
