Dear Valerie,

Such a loss. Bob was one of the best persons in every way whom Don and I have ever known. He made the world a better place for people and animals. Our thoughts are with you.

Much love,
Pat

Valerie-
It has been a long time, but I remember you and Bob with great fondness. We had dinner at your home shortly before you left for New Orleans, and you fixed such a good dessert with fresh berries!
I sent a copy of Bob's obituary to Gottfried Benad, and he will also be in touch.
The pediatrician group met on Tuesday and shared memories of Bob and you. I am so sorry for your loss.
Fondly,
Mary Sugioka

July 8, 2015 | Sylvia S Sterne - Seattle, WA -- United States

Dear Valerie, I am devastated to learn of Bob's death. I worked with him at the LA Office of Public Health in the 90s and he was the best colleague anyone could have had. We did some wonderful work together on adolescent health and school health clinics. His insight was invaluable. I think of you both since you left New Orleans, it was great to have you both in our city.

July 7, 2015 | Joan Barasovska - CHAPEL HILL, NC -- United States

Valerie, I remember Bob well, though I believe I only spoke with him a few times. My clearest memory is of his being the pediatrician on call when our son John (I'm the former wife of Geoffrey Harpham) was three and very ill during a weekend. Bob's kindness and sweetness on the phone were precisely what I needed at that moment. Twenty-four years later I can recall the relief I felt upon hearing Bob's reassuring voice. That is a powerful gift.

July 7, 2015 | Ernest Kraybill - Chapel Hill, NC -- Chatham

Dear Valerie,
I have the warmest memories of Bob. He was a valued colleague in Pediatrics; I owe a debt of gratitude because he talked me into going to the GDR, an experience that enriched my life and changed my world view.

I hope you are well, and that you will experience peace and comfort.

Ernie Kraybill
