Lois will be missed at Cora Stickney Harper Chapter NSDAR meetings. She welcomed me into the chapter when I transferred my membership from CO to FL, and she got me involved in activities right away. I will miss her smile and open heart.

To Karen and family:
So very sorry to read of the passing of your beautiful mother. She is now reunited with your dad and likely
“Ruling the roost” once again.
Love, Judy

August 5, 2021 | Mary Shelasky - Holyoke, Massachusetts -- United States

I'm sorry to hear of Lois' passing. She was revered at Holyoke Community College. She could handle any task with the utmost professionalism. She was well respected and treated everyone like they were her family. A short story: in 1986, when Lois transitioned from the position of Division Secretary of the Math, Science & Technology to become the Executive Assistant to the President, I was the person who was hired to fill her vacated position in the MST division office. Back then, smoking was allowed in offices, but not in hallways. Lois used to keep a dinner plate size ashtray on the front of her desk so that the professors could run in between classes, grab a few puffs on their cigarettes, pick up their mail and messages and be back in the classroom 5 minutes later. The professors loved the convenience. I, on the other hand, can't tolerate cigarette smoke. My first day on the job, I threw away the ashtray and told the Professors that they would now need to smoke in their own offices and not while standing in front of my desk. That went over like a lead balloon. Everyone continued to pine for Lois, but they visited her frequently in the Presidents office and supported her in any way possible. I'm still at the college 35 years later and I can tell you that Lois is a LEAGEND. She was quite the lady. My condolences.
