February 20, 2018 | Emily & Tim (Strider & String Bean) - Burlington, Vermont -- USA

We miss you Ben. While we only crossed paths for a few days on the AT, you are one that cannot be forgotten. The joy, encouragement and kindness that you brought to the trail were infectious. You took such great pleasure in the simple things and we try, even to this day, to do the same because of you. You taught us that it's the simple things - real connections with others and honest work - that really matter. How you managed to do that is just a few days of bumping into each other, we have no idea, but we are endlessly grateful. We will carry you with us on every hike, every encounter with nature and every adventure. With love, Strider & String Bean

Dear Jamie, Mike & Family,

The pain of losing a family member is indescribable and it hurts so much. Ben will still be with you and you’ll have signs of that daily. He’s your Angel now and he’ll be watching out for you. My thoughts have been and will be with you and my heart is hurting and heavy too. Take good care and reach out for help when you’re ready. I joined a grieving group for a 6 week session and it did help some. I only knew Ben when he was a toddler but have really enjoyed hearing so many great things about him over the years along with lots of pictures. Clearly he was an amazing special person. You’ll always have your special memories. Prayers for the strength you’ll need to get through this day and every day. I’m here if you ever need me. Love, Heidi
