Date of Birth: May 9, 1931

Biography:

Vivian Wixom passed away peacefully in her home on September 28, 2025 at the age of 94. She was born in Brunswick, Maine on May 9,1931 to Ludger and Celina Caouette. Vivian had many fond memories as a child with her father and Norma Bouchard, Priscilla Laganiere and Joanne Johnson. At 9, Vivian began her drawing and painting endeavor. Many times if she couldn’t get her hands on paper and paint she would use other materials she found within her families home. At 18 years old she built a massive snow horse while babysitting her sister Marie that made the newspaper. Her love of the outdoors was seen throughout her artwork from flowers, barns/farms, animals, the coast of Maine, mountains and especially the lighthouses. Vivian's primitive style paintings and personalized furniture are sprinkled throughout the country. Her granddaughter Andrea Imrie whom she shared a special bond with completed 3 paintings with her in the last few years at the amazing age of 90. Vivian loved to camp and travel across the country and she did that with her husband Robert and children. Her camera was always on her and from those images she created beautiful artwork. Vivian's artwork was featured in Better Homes and Garden, Artist’ Artsemble Books by Talented American Artists and Topsham's 250th Anniversary commemorative coin. Vivian loved her family very much and enjoyed making her children clothes as well as for herself. Vivian absolutely loved to host events and gatherings in her home. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and her home was such a magical winter wonderland.
Vivian was an active member in the community: Soup Kitchen, Fireman’s Auxiliary Club, 7 Stitches, Garden club, Navy Wives Club, Merrymeeting Art Association, Rogers Cemetery along with many fundraisers and so much more. She was loved so much and will be forever missed. Vivian was predeceased by her parents Ludger and Celina Caouette, Leigh Mooers (first husband) and her son Michael Mooers. Vivian is survived by her husband of 61 years Robert Wixom, son Bruce Mooers (Vicky), son James Mooers (Hong) son Steven Mooers (Robin) daughter Kathaleen Bailey (Bobby), daughter Patricia Labbe (Mark Cormier) and daughter Susan Wixom. Sister Marie Riendeau (Ronald). Vivian is blessed with numerous grandchildren and great children and great-great grandchildren and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Atlantic Regional “Vivian Wixom Youth Art Fund” to honor Vivian's legacy to further children's passion of art. A service will be held at Rogers Cemetery Cathance Road Topsham on October 19th at 11:00 am. Following a celebration of life will be held at the American Legion in Topsham from 12:00-3:00.
