John L White

Date of Death: October 8, 2025

Date of Birth: April 29, 1948

Biography:

John White, 77, of New Gloucester, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

John devoted his life to those he loved, and his kindness and dedication to family were unmatched. He was well known in the community for his many years as a school bus driver for MSAD 15. Before that, he worked as a steelworker, and after retirement, he owned and operated his own landscaping business. Together with his wife, John opened his heart and home as a foster parent to more than 60 children—ensuring that life in the White household was always full of energy, laughter, and love.

John's second love was for fishing and hunting and teaching his kids the correct ways of both. The highlight of these hobbies was participating twice in the moose hunt – once with his brother Mike and once with his son. Both times were successful. Family and friends were always welcome. John's beer fridge was well stocked and open for all who visited.

John is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Christine White, and by his greatest joy—his children: Vickie White of Lady Lake, FL; Vinson White and his significant other Heather of Buxton, ME; Brian White of Windham, ME; David White and his wife Samantha of Gray, ME; Robert White of Old Orchard Beach, ME; Kayla Williams of Poland; Adam White of Bangor, ME; and his special daughter, Aubrey, of New Gloucester, ME.

John is also survived by his siblings: Michael White and his wife Linda of Hebron, CT; Debbie Maulucci and her husband Rick of Mansfield, CT; and Richard Sigston and his wife Jane of The Villages, FL. His surviving extended family also includes his in-laws MaryAnn Joyce, Scott and Pippa Dinger, Perry Joyce, and Vicki Olmsted, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He shared countless adventures and cherished memories with his "twin" and travel companions, Tom and Carole Farrand. John leaves behind a large loving family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.

John is predeceased by his parents, in-laws, siblings Steven White, Sharon Purington, and Joe Eaton, and brothers-in-law Steven Joyce & Terry Olmstead.

John had a love of travel whether it was visiting family all over the U.S. and Canada, or visiting new places and having new adventures. His favorite vacations were the family cruises and Alaska trips. John proudly served as a veteran of the United States Navy. Donations can be made in John's memory to Honor Flight Maine or Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine.

A Celebration of Life will be held at American Legion Post 86 in Gray, Maine from 2pm-7pm on October 20th
