Biography:
John David Teller, 88, Georgetown, passed on April 28, 2025, at Maine Health Mid Coast Hospital, Brunswick, Maine.
John was born on November 18, 1936 to the late Grif and Mabel Teller of Little Falls, NJ.
He graduated from Rutgers University in 1958 with a BS and then served in the Army from 1958-1964. He worked for 30 years with the Upjohn Company as a Medical Sciences Liaison in Cardio-Vascular diseases and retired in 1991 to Maine.
After retirement, John’s passion for music was rejuvenated when he joined the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra as an oboist. He served as Orchestra board member, Manager, and Executive Director. John also founded and performed in the Windswept Quintet.
John was active in St. Mary’s Catholic Church as a member of the choir and the Lenten Dinner committee. He also served on the Georgetown Harbor Committee for over 25 years.
He enjoyed sailing, playing his oboe, listening to classical music, and reading about history. He loved visiting his family often, and traveling to New Zealand, Costa Rica, Alaska, and numerous trips to Europe. He maintained many life-long friendships and lit up when he had guests.
John is predeceased by his parents Grif and Mabel, and sister, Ruth.
John is survived by his brother, Robert; his children, Deborah (Douglas), David (Judith) and Sara (Robert); grandchildren, Melissa (Ahmet), Carolyn (Robert), Claire (Jake), Kristen, Nicole, Michael (Tara) and Brian (Lauren); great grandchildren, Daniella, Robbie, Cody, Nathan and Brooks (and 2 more on the way); and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Tuesday, May 27 from 5:30-7:30PM at Long Reach Hall, Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington St., Bath, ME.
Funeral: Wednesday, May 28 at 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 144 Lincoln St., Bath, ME, followed by burial at Mountainside Cemetery, Route 127, Georgetown, ME (8 miles from Route 1 after turning onto Rt. 127S).
