Biography:
Edward W.Samson, born December 17, 1935 in Lewiston the son of William M. and Lucille V. Gagne Samson. He attended local schools and received his GED while in the Air Force from 1955 to 1958. After being discharged from the Air Force he went to work in Hartford Ct. and in 1960 married his wife Elianne M Guerrette at St Lawrence O'Toole in Hartford. Returning to Maine in 1965 he worked for National Fuel as a serviceman and in 1969 he went to work for U.S Postal Service as a letter Carrier and later as a vehicle operations manager.
In 1980 with the help of his wife he founded American Engraving & Awards in Auburn while still employed by the P.O. He Retired from the P.O. in 1992 and then sold his business in 1997. He was a member of the Retreads XL+ Motorcycle Association and he and his wife traveled extensively in the U.S. and Canada. He was a former member and director of the Auburn Business Association, a life member of D.A.V. Chapter 11 and the Franco American War Veterans Post 31 and a volunteer driver for the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society for 9 years. He was pre-deceased by his parents, wife Elianne, and his sister Joan(Bob) Colvin. anyone wanting to make a donation in his honor may send it to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society. He leaves his faithful friend Janet Theriault, His niece who helped care for him Jenny Rubin and many nieces and nephews.
Ed's family would like to thank all his caregivers, The Lamp memory care, and Andwell hospice for their loving and caring support of Ed.
He was a very special man who helped his friends, family, and strangers in any way he could.
"There are some that bring a light so great to the world, that even after they are gone the light remains" A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 17 at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, Lisbon Street, Lewiston.
