In 1985, she enrolled in training classes to become a Certified Nurse’s Aide, graduating at the top of her class and being placed for referrals on the National Registry of Nurses. She went on to work as a private duty nurse for many years.

In 1987, she met the love of her life, Frank Hilton, and they went on to marry Nov 21st of that year. They were attending the same church and found a strong connection of love and faith. Throughout their 38 years together they built a life of love and raised their family in faith. Frank cared endlessly for Donna when she became ill, until her last day.
