Biography:
John L. Grenier, 89, died peacefully in Lewiston on September 30, 2025 with his loving wife by his side. Born on January 26, 1936 to Thomas and Bernadette (Goulet) Grenier.
He graduated high school from St. Dominic's in 1954 and served in the Army as a paratrooper from 1954-1957.
He married the love of his life Monique Fortier on May 31, 1958 and graduated from the University of Hartford in 1960. He
continued on with his education earning his Chartered Life Underwriter as an independent insurance
agent.
John was one of 18 children growing up in Lewiston. He was a well-known and respected
businessman and athlete. Like many of his brothers he was an avid sportsman. He excelled in baseball
as a pitcher in high school and college before moving to softball, horseshoe, tennis, bowling, cross
country skiing, and golf.
John was a devoted father and family man. He loved following his children's sports and their
activities. He was always proud of their accomplishments. He loved all of his grandchildren and was
able to enjoy all of their company in his retirement years. He especially loved seeing his great
grandchildren in his declining years.
John is survived by his devoted wife Monique of 67 years and four children John (Nancy) Grenier,
Peter (Carrie) Grenier, Monique (Douglas) Weber, and Lyse (Raymond) Roy. Ten grandchildren Nick
(Sam) Grenier, Ben (Andrea) Grenier, Colby (Chelsea) Roy, Derrick (Kristin) Roy, Michael Weber, Taylor
(Ronald) Seguin, Paige (Jungkyu) Weber, Alex, Caleb, and Trevor Grenier. Eight great grandchildren Coltn
and Logan Roy, Charlotte and Meredith Seguin, Evelyn and Eleanor Roy, and Ellis and Bowen Grenier. Six
siblings Claudette (Raymond) Guilmette, Ginette Gladu, Marthe (Stan) Stokowski, Pierre Grenier,
Bernard (Marilyn) Grenier, and Paul (Anita) Grenier.
Predeceased by brothers Earl, Thomas, Rene, Rudolphe, Gerald, and Raymond and sisters Bernadette
and Joanne Grenier, Jeannine Beaupre, Madeleine Girardin, and Georgette Clavet.
Liturgical Services will be Saturday October 18th at 10:30 AM at St. Peter's Cemetery in the mausoleum. Friends and family are welcome. Burial services to follow. In lieu of flowers please donate to Andwell Hospice Care services.
