Elizabeth (Betty) Katherine Furgeson

Biography:

Elizabeth Katherine Furgeson (Betty) died on September 24, 2025, in Topsham, Maine.

 Betty was born March 7, 1937, in Irvington, NJ to Joseph and Elizabeth Limbrunner.  She graduated as valedictorian of Grand Gorge High in 1954, was a cheerleader and played women’s basketball.  After graduation she matriculated to Ellis Hospital School of Nursing where she received her nursing certificate in 1957. 

 She went on to get her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at State University of New York in Plattsburgh and while there met her future husband Donald Earl Furgeson who was serving in the Air Force and stationed in Plattsburgh.  They were married in 1960.

 Betty and Don moved to Newark Valley, New York where they spent most of their adult life and raised four children.  Betty loved music and played piano in the church choir for many years.  Betty and Don were married for 54 years before he preceded her in death in 2014. 

Surviving her are her brother George Limbrunner, children Debbie Van Brunt, Kristen Kelly, Steve and Mark Furgeson, her grandchildren Christian and Chad Van Brunt, Katie and Anne Kelly, Joshua and William Furgeson, and Richard and Michael Furgeson, as well as 4 great grandchildren.
