Jospeh Camille Delorme

Date of Death: September 15, 2025

Date of Birth: April 25, 1938

Biography:

Joseph Camille Delorme, 87, died on September 15th, 2025 at Central Maine Medical Center. A lifelong resident and farmer of Sabattus, ME, Joseph was born on April 25th, 1938 to George and Alice Delorme. He was a man of many skills, steadfast values, and unshakable faith.

Adroit in leadership and mechanical repair, Joseph worked as a Supervisor at the Bates Mill for twenty years, where he oversaw commercial looms for textiles and the people who ran them. As a member of the US Army National Guard, Joseph served as a cook, and was called to action for over a year of active duty during a national emergency. Joseph was also a devout member of the Catholic Church, which he served faithfully as a member of the Our Lady of the Rosary Parish until his retirement. During all this time, he also wore the hats of husband, father, and farmer.

Joseph enjoyed farming his land. Hay farming, in particular, and personally maintained all of his original equipment throughout his life. Spending time with his family was always a major priority for him, and in doing so he was never at a loss for a joke to crack or a story to tell. He was a wonderful and adaptable cook as well, and loved preparing meals for those he cared for. He liked the music of Daniel O’Donnel, but could also often be heard singing more traditional songs such as “You Are My Sunshine” with a bounce in his step and a smile on his face.

Joseph is predeceased by his son, Richard Delorme, and his brother, Rosaire Delorme.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Gloria Delorme; his sister, Theresa Morneault; his children, Pauline Delorme, Claire Coleman and her husband Ken, Lucy Oullette and her husband Paul, Diane Fenderson and her husband Scott; and his grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Courtney, Rose, Marianne, Cody, Samantha, and Nathanael.
