In Loving Memory of Cheryl Ann Bennett

November 10, 1956 – July 28, 2025

With profound sadness and loving remembrance, we share the peaceful passing of our cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend, Cheryl Ann Bennett, on July 28, 2025.

Born on November 10, 1956 in Gardiner, Maine, Cheryl was the beloved daughter of the late Richard Nickel and the late Dianne Moran. Her life was a testament to love, grace, and quiet strength. She shared 52 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Dennis Bennett—a union marked by unwavering support, shared laughter, and deep affection.

A gifted seamstress, Cheryl poured her creativity into crafting cherished Halloween costumes and wedding dresses, weaving love and care into every stitch. She was also known for her dedication and reliability in her professional life. Cheryl spent 29 years as a bookkeeper at Hannaford in Topsham, Maine, earning the respect of colleagues through her quiet diligence and integrity. More recently, she continued her work at Goodwill, where her warmth and professionalism touched many. Her gentle spirit, warm heart, and the way she made every person feel at home will live on in the countless lives she touched. Cheryl's memory will be a guiding light—soft, enduring, and unforgettable.

Cheryl's greatest treasure was her family. She poured her heart into every moment spent with them, especially at Christmas. She shopped all year putting gifts aside for each of the grandchildren which made for a pile of gifts on Christmas Eve. She enjoyed watching as family opened gifts.

Cheryl is survived by her two sons, Christopher Bennett and wife Renata, Jason Bennett and wife Angel, three brothers; Richard Nickel Jr. and his wife Gail, Scott Nickel, and Dean Nickel and his wife Carol, six grandchildren; Zachary Bennett and wife Victoria, Allyson and Parker Bennett, Autumn Frechette and partner Mike Robb, Madison and husband Richard Thompson, and Brandon Bennett, two great-grandsons; Callum and Dalton.

Cheryl's family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to CHANS Home Health and Hospice of Brunswick for their compassionate care of Cheryl.

A private service will be held to celebrate her life.
