Sandra Jane Anderson

Date of Death: July 26, 2025

Date of Birth: February 27, 1947

Biography:

Sandra Jane (Wallace) Anderson

Sandra Jane (Wallace) Anderson of Brunswick passed away peacefully on Saturday July 26th 2025. She was born on February 27th 1947 to Jerry and Hazel (Smith) Wallace as part of a very large family in Sebasco Maine. Likely, as a result of her compassionate nature Sandra became a caregiver of the elderly for most of her career. Sandra was an incredibly strong woman balancing being a single mother and her career. Sandra was exceptionally proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also cherished her Wallace and Smith heritage. Growing up in a fishing community and being the daughter of a lobsterman, the shore held a special place in her heart. She often shared special memories about gatherings on the shore with her sisters and brothers. Many stories focused on trips to Totman Cove beach in West Point with her family. And hikes along the coast onto Malaga island and exploring every cove in Sebasco as a little girl. Through her strong connection with her family this is likely how she developed her resilient nature as she battled many health issues over the years. Nonetheless, she kept her witty sense of humor and positive attitude that all enjoyed. Formal schooling never really agreed with her as she started her family very young. Rather her lifelong compassion remained her love of family.

Sandra is predeceased by parents Jerry and Hazel Wallace; siblings Natalie Alexander, Joseph Wallace, Grace Moore, and Harriet York; lifelong partner Otis William Sprague, and daughter Laurie Monteiro.

Sandra is survived by siblings Kevin Wallace, Jeannie Wallace, Gary Wallace, and Janet Wyman, her children, Penny Anderson of Fayetteville NC, Anita Hamrick of Bowdoinham, Victor Anderson of Topsham and Anthony Anderson of Whitefield. Sandra is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren and close friends Marie and Thomas “Dooley” Fraser and her beloved cat “Sammy”.

An intimate family graveside ceremony will be held at the Morningside Cemetery in Phippsburg at 10am on Thursday July 31st.  She will be laid to rest with lifelong partner Otis and daughter Laurie. Following the graveside ceremony, all are welcome to attend a celebration of life that will be held at the West Bath Volunteer Fire Department Hall from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
