I am so sorry to have found my cousins gone before I ever knew them. My mom talked of Herman often. To their children, I am sorry for your lost even two years later, I know the hole left in our lives when our parents have gone on. God bless you both.

Ann and Herman were members of a vibrant group of artists and community activists when we moved to Freeport in 1969. Their focus at the time was school reform and poverty issues. In any meeting, Ann's droll and piercing wit kept us on our toes. She was openhearted as well, once lending Peggy a stunning silk sari to wear to a social gathering. We loved her glorious accent and admired her devotion to Herm and the children. We send heartfelt sympathy to her children and family members.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Ann. I remember both Ann and Herman vividly. Although they were closer to my parents, David and Mymie Graham, than to me, I was lucky enough to have known them both. Ann's obituary was a beautiful tribute to the lady I remember. Both Herman and Ann were keenly interested in the Freeport community and in helping others. I remember visits to the house on Pleasant Hill and later to the one on the landing. They were warm and welcoming hosts, as well as insightful and fun to be around. I always think of them when I pass the house on the landing. I am sorry for your loss and for the passing of such fine people. A light has gone out, but I am sure too that a torch has been passed. I'm glad I knew them.
