Sadly, I knew Amy only through her mom. What an exceptionally brave and beautiful person!

My deepest condolences to everyone who was touched by mrs Amy Peterson. She was my algebra teacher in high school and because of her I wanted to learn math more and more. She never gave up on me and she was very optimistic. What a wonderful woman I got the pleasure in meeting. She will be missed by so many.

My career is in Oncology, and in this 25 year span,
I have some understanding of my cousin Amy’s life with cancer. I am in awe of her. Amy intelligently, bravely did
all she could do to live. None of us know how long our lives will be. Amy showed us how to live under such a challenging diagnosis. Rest well dear one.
Love, Ruthie

Your love was like the dawn
Brightening over our lives,
Awakening beneath the dark
A further adventure of color.
Let us not look for you only in memory
Where we would grow lonely without you.
You would want us to find you in presence,
Beside us when beauty brightens,
When kindness glows
And music echoes eternal tones.
May this dark grief flower with hope
In every heart that loves you.

I was told of Amy's passing by our mutual friend from the old United Baptist Church days, Peg Hoffman. I am very sorry for her family's loss. I remember Amy's bright and shining countenance and care for her family and our whole church family, which, from our little distance, was more inspiring than she knew.

You brought a beautiful sunshine, even better than CA sunshine, into every event, classroom and family gathering. Wonderful Wife, Mom and teacher. You can not be replaced and will NEVER be forgotten. All Love and Respects...

I wasn’t a great or memorable student but Ms. Peterson was a great and memorable teacher. I’m so lucky to have been taught by her. My thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this time <3

We and our students were so fortune to have Amy be part of our ELHS family. She continued to smile and laugh with us even as her health declined. Condolences to Steve and her family. Amy touched so many.

I am so sorry to hear of Amy's passing. Amy was truly a ray of sunshine - incredibly upbeat, optimistic, and kind. Though she was only with us at EL for a short time, she had an incredible impact on all of us. And she always spoke so lovingly about her family! I will miss her energy, her sense of humor, and that sunshine - the sunshine she continued to radiate even when going through tremendously difficult circumstances with her health. I wish you all love, strength, and peace in this devastating time.
