I visited and bought chickens from Jane and Bill back in 1979 and they have been friends ever since. I admire their dedication to each other, their community, the Co-op, and the land, and strive to follow in their footsteps. They are shining lights who inspire us and show us how to live and love. RIP, Jane. We love you and Bill very much.

I knew Jane initially through Fare Share Co-Op when I worked there. She and Bill shopped at the co-op almost weekly. They were the sweetest, good-humored couple. Later, I got to know Jane through a gluten-free class I gave and she attended. I was so in awe of her curiosity and interest in learning new things. I am so glad that I saw Jane last March when she and Bill and their daughter came to our sugar house on Maine Maple Weekend. Bill wanted his daughter to see maple-sugaring in process. Jane didn't come inside, but I went out to the car and we chatted, and she had that beautiful, generous smile I will always remember.

As one of the founding members of Fare Share Co-op, Jane will be missed. She brought beauty, grace, and a gentle smile to all at the store and out in the community. I will miss seeing Jane in the store with Bill. They always made me happy and were the cutest couple around! I will be sure to give Bill an extra hug for her every time he's in.
