July 2, 2017 | Eric F. Thacher - Potsdam, New York -- USA

The Eddys were very kind to me. When going to Submarine School in New London, CT, I stayed with the them in North Stonington. Although I am saddened to learn of Bill's passing, I know that what Christ Jesus said about Jairus' daughter applies to Bill: he is "not dead, but sleepeth." So, he is alive and going on in another state of consciousness. My love goes out to Jan, and to his children.

It was an honor and a pleasure to have known Bill for all the years that I did- we were "gatekeepers " together, canoed the Allagash with he and Jan, skied together, hiked together and had many wonderful and memorable times together- Tim (deceased) had many submarine talks with Bill as Tim retired from the Kittery Naval Shipyard- Bill has a special place in my heart and may he Rest In Peace - love and condolences to the entire Eddy family- Cathy Baker

May 3, 2017 | Allen and Judy Wicken - Rangeley, Maine -- USA

Jan and Family,
Judy and I were deeply saddened (while visiting our sons and families in Colorado) to hear of Bill's passing. While I only knew Bill in his post-stroke years since 2000, I long admired Bill (as a physical therapist) for his resilience, ready smile and sense of humor, his dedication to family and the outdoors of the Rangeley area and Maine in general...and devotion to the Appalachian Mountain Club in Maine, and the local hiking group, TRAC, and his organizing the "pack in" and "pack out" of the caretakers equipment and supplies at Piazza Rock on the AT near Rangeley.
Jan, we hope to continue seeing you up here in Rangeley...and perhaps if that won't be possible, in our frequent trips to the Portland area, perhaps a visit with you there in Yarmouth...where we could take you to lunch.... :-) We love you both, and always will.
Sincerely,
Allen (and Judy) Wicken

Frank and I send our heartfelt condolences to you, Jan, Blair and Sam, on the passing of Bill. We have fond memories of our friendship when you lived in "No Sto", and driving Blair to Pine Point. Frank just used Bill's rototiller to prepare the garden for planting.
Much love from both of us.

April 24, 2017 | Jon and Nancy - Bath, Maine -- Sadagdhoc

Dear Jan,

We were saddened to hear of Bill's passing. Although we didn't know Bill well, we knew that he was a strong, multidimensional man who didn't let life's vicissitudes get in his way. His love of the outdoors was apparent. He was a rare combination of one who had a firm grasp of technology with a respect for the world around him.
We know he will be missed by you and your family.
When we walk past the trail to Mountain Pond we will picture Bill with walking stick in hand beginning a journey.

Jon and Nancy

April 22, 2017 | Martha & John Bicknell - Rangeley, Maine -- USA

We loved knowing Bill Eddy! His passion for being outdoors; his love for the planet Earth; and his deep love for Jan and their shared life were so inspiring. Even more inspiring was his happy smile, calmly shared at the post office or at the library, even as it became more difficult to navigate to town on his own.

Jan and Bill's peaceful acceptance of a different life following Bill's stroke found them doing more things indoors. They embraced the day they were given, and with abundant love, they seemed to always smile.

May heart-smiles fill your family as you remember and celebrate dear, dear Bill Eddy.
Peace to you all!! Martha & John Bicknell

April 21, 2017 | Tom Fitzgerald - Uncasville, CT -- United States

Dear Jan,
You have my sincere condolences. I have many fond memories of Bill and me sitting in the same office cubicle at Tracor, as well as traveling together. I am so grateful for his willingness to take me under his wing and provide the guidance I needed. Your sailor can now rest his oars.

Sincerely,
Tom Fitzgerald

What a beautifully written tribute to Mr. Eddy. I was thinking of you, Mrs. Eddy & Blair recently and wondered where you where and how you've been. I have such fond memories of you from those days at Sunday School and how much I loved visiting for a sleepover with Blair. You had such a lovely home and I remember you making homemade molasses chews/taffy for us. That was wonderful. I'm sorry to hear that Mr. Eddy passed away. What a kind man he was. Please know that my parents and I send our love and prayers to all of you. Love, Janie

April 19, 2017 | David Pressler - North Stonington, CT -- US

To The family: I had the privilege of working with Bill at Tracor. We traveled together working on various submarines and worked on several in house projects as well. I thought Bill was a real gentlemen and it was an honor to have known him. I am sorry for your loss. Fair winds and following seas to you Bill.
