Rick, you left a large impact on the world but especially on the hearts and minds of all of your family, friends and coworkers. You will be missed!
I had the distinct honor of being Rick's daughter in law for 17 years and his friend for 24 more years. Derrick and I met in Maine, at the "Big house" on the ocean, in 1978 and married 3 yrs later. Rick was more of a Father to me than my own Dad and I love him dearly. He was a true renaissance man and always a gentleman.Even after the divorce, Rick treated me like family and I stayed in touch with many of the extended family in Maine. I met the Wells family first and then I met Derrick at Chilloa's wedding. My love for all of the extended family is still strong and Derrick and I still work amicably together to co-parent our only child, Kristen. We kept her in close contact with her Grandpa Rick & Grandma Erme ,Aunts, Uncles and cousins by having her spend summers and vacations in Phippsburg helping her uncles catch lobster and tuna fish! R
Rick's legacy of love, kindness,fairness, teamwork, hard work, and helping others has carried down to all of his children and grandchildren. Rick was aware of his 4th and 5th great grandchildren that were due in the spring and summer of 2022. He was respected by all as he treated all he met or knew with respect also. He was wise and enjoyed imparting his wisdom to those who would listen.His smile was as big and warm as his heart that he showed constantly! Love is forever, Rick, and I thank you for showing me what a real Father was supposed to be like. What an amazing life you led! It's not good bye.. it's I will see you again!
