David Schmidt, 88, of Augusta passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026.
He was born in Farmington to Dr. Lorrimer Schmidt and Dorothy Schmidt on April 20,1938.
He served in the US Marines and spent many years as a salesman before realizing his dream of owning a restaurant. He co-owned both the Weathervane and Hattie’s with his wife Harriett. David loved restaurant life, cooking, playing cribbage and his dog, Muffin.
David is predeceased by his wife, Harriett; his parents; Stepdaughter Gloria Weeks; and his brother Dr. James Schmidt.
He is survived by his son Steven Schmidt and his wife Teresa; his daughter, Lisa Hicks; his grandchildren, Darren Hicks, Brianna Hicks, Karl Schmidt, and Nathan Weeks. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
