Biography:

GREENE — Jack L. Zupancic, 79, of Greene passed away surrounded by loved ones Sunday, Aug. 26, after a two-year battle with mesothelioma.

He was born in Library, Pa., March 20, 1939.

He married the love of his life, Cathy Tiner, in 1971, and they spent 47 wonderful years together.

He honorably served our country in the United States Navy for 21 years, traveling the world with his family in tow.

Following his naval career, he worked for Phillips Elmet for 19 years.

In his retirement, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and longtime friend, Ray Doustou, and he spent many hours on his John Deere tractor making sure his property was always well-maintained.

He cherished the time he spent with his son, grandchildren and great-grandson. He was filled with pride that both his grandson and great-grandson were named after him.

Along with his wife, Cathy, he leaves behind his son, Todd W. Zupancic, and his wife, Darlene, of Greene; his brother, Frank Zupancic, and his wife, Hazel, of Linthicum, Md.; his sister, Marilyn Moore, of Pittsburgh; his granddaughter, Tori, and her husband, Steve Gendron; grandson, Jack W. Zupancic; and his great-grandson, Jack M. Gendron; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank Joseph and Frances (Royer) Zupancic, and his sister, Delores Gogolin.

A private celebration of life will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support the Mesothelioma Treatment and Research Fund at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
