Robert Louis Townsend

Biography:

Robert Louis Townsend, 92, of Lewiston, Maine passed away peacefully at his home on April 29, 2015. Bob was the son of Robert C. and Mary Elsie (Parker) Townsend.

Bob was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Hilda Marie (McPhail) Townsend, his parents and brothers Walter and George. Bob is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Bob was a U S Navy veteran of World War II. He served on the USS Boyle, DD600, in the Mediterranean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.

Bob taught business subjects for more than 30 years in Jackman, Mapleton and Jonesport, Maine; Middleborough, Massachusetts; and Burlington, Vermont finishing his career at Sabattus and Lewiston High Schools.

Bob and Hilda enjoyed traveling and camping for more than 40 years and wintered in Zephyrhills, Florida from 1996 to 2013. Bob especially enjoyed reunions with shipmates of the USS Boyle.

Arrangements are being handled by Funeral Alternatives of Lewiston, Maine. Interment will be on June 1^st, 2015 at 3pm at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn. Remembrance gifts in Bob's memory may be made to Lewiston Memorial Post 120, American Legion.
