Date of Birth: August 22, 1929

Biography:

Marjorie L. (Martin) Stone, 82, of South Paris peacefully departed this life on Feb. 28, 2012, with her loving family and her devoted husband of 42 years, David Stearns Stone, at her bedside.

Marjorie was born on Aug. 22, 1929 in Mexico, ME.  She graduated from Mexico High School and completed her education in Boston, MA.  Marjorie worked at Stephens Memorial Hospital  for the majority of her career as a laboratory technologist.  She retired from Stephens after 28 years and became actively involved in her local AARP chapter.  She volunteered at Responsible Pet Care in Norway and would never turn away a cat or a dog that any of her children would drop at her door.  In her earlier years, Margie enjoyed hosting parties by her pool, and taking family trips to P.E.I. and the ocean.  Most recently, she loved her bingo nights with her dear friends; Ann Edwards, Pat Cleveland, and Pat Pulkkinen, and spending summer evenings on the front porch with her neighbors.

Marjorie was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Louise (McAfferty) Martin, her son Levin Edward Barker, and her two brothers Dr. Joseph Edward Martin and Frank T. Martin.

She is survived by her husband David Stearns Stone of South Paris and her children Laurie Lacer of Londonderry, NH, Sharon Jacobs and her husband Scott of Granby, CT, Douglas T. Stone of Lewiston, Karla Horecky of South Paris, David Stone and his wife Melissa of South Paris, her nine grandchildren whom she adored with all of her heart and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing, 10 High St., Lewiston, ME  04240, or the Hospice House, 236 Stetson Rd., Auburn, ME  04210.

A graveside memorial is scheduled for May 19, 2012, at Pinegrove Cemetery in South Paris.  A memorial announcement will follow.
