Biography:

AUGUSTA-  Francoise L. Pepin, 82, of 188 Togus Road died peacefully September 13, 2013 upon arrival at Maine General Medical Center.

 

Francoise was born in St. Benoit Labre, Quebec, on April 26, 1931, the daughter of Henri Veilleux and Clara (Vallee) Veilleux. She was educated in Canadian schools and had a talent for music. In her younger years she used to play guitar and sing at gatherings. She was also a cantor and sang in the church choir in her hometown.

 

She became a U.S. citizen in 1954 and worked at Kennebec Manufacturing, Hallowell Shoe and Edwards Cotton Mill in Augusta. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Augusta and was married there in 1962 to Benoit Pepin.

 

She is predeceased by her parents, as well as her brothers, Richard, Leo Paul,

Herve, and Gaeton; sisters, Helen and Gertrude; and also late husband Benoit Pepin.

 

Surviving are her son, Robert Pepin and his wife Darlene of Bucksport; her daughter and caretaker, Lisa Goulette and husband Daniel of Chelsea, three grandchildren; Jacksie Pepin, Stephen Goulette and Lexie Goulette; three siblings of St. George De Beauce, Canada: brother, Benoit Veilleux, and two sisters, Cecile Vallee and Gisele Dulac; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

She will be deeply missed but she now lives joyfully with our Lord in His heavenly home, bringing peace and comfort to our hearts.

 

There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial Mass of Christian will be celebrated on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 10:00 am; St. Joseph Catholic Church in Gardiner, Maine. There will be a reception in the Church Hall with light refreshments.

 

The family would like to thank Donna and Sue from Bridges Home Care,  Care & Comfort Home Health Services, and Bureau of Elderly Services in aiding with her home care.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Michael Parish Religious Education.  Condolences to the family may be expressed through the Kennebec Journal Obituaries Online.
