Biography:

 

Henry J. Longtin Jr, 85, of Auburn, died on January 20th, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston.

 

He was born on June 5th, 1925 the son of Henri Sr. and Anne Marie (Ruest) Longtin.

After school Henry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.

 

Henry married Yvette Lessard on June 12, 1948.

 

Among his many interests he especially enjoyed watching the Red Sox, making puzzles, music, animals, and most of all making people laugh.

 

He worked for many years at the Auto Center of Auburn as a parts manager and previously at Bates College and Thomas J. McMahon Elementary School where he especially enjoyed having fun with the teachers and children.

 

He is survived by his beloved wife Yvette (Lessard) Longtin of Auburn; sons’ Michael Longtin of Saco, Ronald Longtin of Old Orchard Beach; daughters’ Doris Longtin of Scarborough, Rachel Walker and companion Roger Sorrells of Poland; grandson Nicholas Walker and his wife Jackie of Waltham, MA; sisters Pauline Longtin and Aline Longtin of Lewiston, and brother  Roland Longtin of Rochester, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Henry was predeceased by his parents; son-in-law Clifford "Rocky" Walker in 1991; and brother Ted Longtin in 2004.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Seth Gordon, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, St. Mary's Hospital staff, and most of all, the wonderful staff at Schooner Estates Residential Care.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial Mass at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 25th, at St. Philips Church, 2365 Turner Road, Auburn. Committal will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Lewiston. In lieu of flowers donations are preferred to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240-5960.
