Biography:

Michael W. King

 

Augusta- Michael W. King of Dresden passed away at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta on February 10, 2011 with his loving wife at his side. He was born in Portland Maine October 14, 1943, the son of William Irvine King and Ruth (Peterson) King.  Michael grew up in Westbrook Maine. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography from Toronto University and at one time had his own photography studio in Albany, New York. He was a veteran, having served in the Army for three years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was, at one time, president of the Volkswagen club here in Maine. On April 2, 1979 Michael married the love of his life, Sheila Cookson, in Augusta Maine.

Michael was predeceased by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, his sister Sarah Gene (Sally) Keefe and husband John of Albany New York, two sisters-in-law Charla Graham and husband William of Texas and Monti  McCanless and husband Jeffrey of Colorado, a niece and several nephews.

At Michael's request there will be no viewing or funeral. Michael will be cremated. His wife wishes to thank all the kind people at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care for their kind and caring treatment of Michael.
