Biography:

October 7, 1942- April 14, 2014

Sandra (Sandy) S. Graham 71 of Gardiner, passed away unexpectedly on April 14th at MaineGeneral Medical Center with her family by her side. Sandy was a Registered Nurse who helped and cared for many throughout her career, from Critical Care to Hospice. She had a zest and passion for life and enjoyed every moment to its fullest. She loved spending time with her family either on fun, crazy adventures like weekend getaways to Rangeley, trips to Boston for the 4th of July, sharing ice cream sundaes for dinner, or hours of telephone conversations with her son and sisters chatting about politics, the weather, or whatever was on her mind. She was a feisty, spunky lady with an unforgettable sense of humor and an incredible amount of determination and vigor. She was gentle, kind, and compassionate and had a deep love for animals, especially Golden Retrievers. She also enjoyed spending time watching the birds feed at the feeders outside her window.

Sandy is survived by her lifelong best friend and confidant, Sandra Conderman of Gardiner, daughter Kathie Clark of Manchester, son Michael Graham of Gardiner, a brother Larry Elwood of Florida, 2 loving sisters Karen Sukow of Florida and Dianne Evans of Arizona, and their families. Her 3 granddaughters, Erin Wolfanger, Lauren Clark and Caroline Clark, were her pride and joy. The delight that they brought her was matched only by the birth of her great-grandson and namesake, Oliver Graham Wolfanger. She will be reunited with her parents Jane and Larry Elwood, grandparents Helen and Gene Carson and her two beloved Golden Retrievers, Katie and Sunny.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of the healthcare professionals involved in her care over the years, and most recently the staff of the Emergency Department and Critical Care unit at MaineGeneral Medical Center for their compassion and support.

Per her request, family and friends will gather for a private celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society in Augusta, Me.
