Lois Adams Goldstone

Date of Death: August 1, 2010

Date of Birth: January 12, 1926

Biography:

Topsham-Lois Adams Goldstone, 84, of Sewall Lane died on Augusta 1, 2010 in Brunswick.

She was born in Paris, France on January 12, 1926. She spent her childhood in New York City, raised a family of five children in Scarsdale, NY, and moved with her husband Sanford Goldstone to Maine in 1972. She spent nearly 35 years as an artist in the Boothbay region before moving to Topsham in 2007 where she worked out of her studio in nearby Brunswick.

Lois’ art career began after she and Sandy moved to Bangor in 1975 where she studied art at the University of Maine. The surroundings of the Maine countryside and seashore provided the inspiration for her oils and pastels. The fields, trees and skies around their salt water Pleasant Cove home in Boothbay is the subject of much of her painting.

Lois regularly enjoyed many one-person shows and exhibits in regional juried shows including the Maine Art Gallery, Wiscasset, and the Boothbay Region Art Foundation. She was President of the Art Foundation in Boothbay Harbor from 1992-1996 and was chosen by Governor Angus King to create his holiday greeting card from the Blaine House. Her paintings were well known for their brilliant skies that somehow helped assure us that there still is endless beauty and magic in this struggling world. Lois’ work is currently represented by the Wiscasset Bay Gallery.

Lois leaves her cherished husband, Sandy, seven children, 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and countless adoring friends and admirers who will miss her beyond what words can express.

Donations in Lois’ memory can be made to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter or the Boothbay Region Art Foundation.
