Biography:

Brunswick-Violet O. Gagnon, 83, of Topsham, died peacefully on October 4, 2011 at Parkview Hospital in Brunswick with her loving family at her side. She was born September 1, 1928 at Cyr Plantation, the daughter of Onezime and Bertha Ouellette and one of 18 children. Violet raised 6 children and lived in many Maine towns before moving to East Hartford, CT. Violet was employed by Beacon Industries in East Hartford Connecticut for over 20 years until her retirement when she moved to Topsham. She enjoyed visiting family and friends, sewing, reading and jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by her children Milton Gagnon and wife Susan of Milford; Linda Dow of Topsham; Carlita Hillman and husband George of Bowdoin; Sandra Jackson and husband Gordon of Delray Beach, FL; Helen Allen of Presque Isle and Laurie Cable and husband Keith of Vernon, CT. She leaves 11 grandchildren, Kelly Fike, Randy Dow, Robert and Jon Hillman, Michelle and Jonathan Jackson, David and Matthew Allen, Amy Daggett, Jennifer Vanidestine, Ryan Cable and 10 great-grandchildren. She is survived by siblings Della Bellefleur, Herman Ouellette, Glenda Roy, Christine Martin, Rachel Lajoie, Joan Dumond and Clayton Ouellette. She was predeceased by her parents and 10 siblings. There will be a memorial Mass at St. Bruno’s in Van Buren on October 18th at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Violet’s name to charities of your choice.
