William "Bill" Byras
Date of Death: February 22, 2015
Date of Birth: November 3, 1954
Biography:
On Sunday, Feb. 22nd William Byras Jr, “Bill” finished his fierce battle with a brief illness at age 60. His wife, daughters, and mother were by his side.
Born in 1954, Bill grew up most of his life on the family farm in Bowdoin.
As a boy, he hunted rabbit, birds, and deer with his father and many of his uncles and cousins. He had a passion for cars-fast ones, and he owned many throughout his life; his favorites being Chevy muscle cars and the Buick Grand National.
After being a pipe fitter at BIW for many years, he became employed at Giberson Buick-Pontiac in 1988, working at the parts counter and moving into car sales for the next 20 years. He seldom forgot a face, a name, or a car. He and his wife Pam shared 40 years of marriage and raised 2 daughters, Stephanie and Michele. Bill watched his 2 grandsons, Sean and Joseph, become young men. His close family knew that he was happy in the kitchen, cooking for them. Bill's food & cocktail creations never disappointed and he had good taste in both!
Bill was survived by his wife Pamela Byras (Elwell) of Bowdoin, daughter Stephanie Bernier, of Topsham, and 2 grandsons, Staff Sgt. Joseph Bernier of Great Falls, MT and Sean Bernier of Topsham, daughter Michele Byras-Chase of Topsham and her husband Kevin Chase, and his mother, Ernestine Byras (Ward) of Bowdoin.
He was predeceased by his father, William Byras Sr. of Bowdoin, sister Linda Lee, and his loving pitbull Ellis.
The Byras family would like to thank the Cardio Pulmonary team and all caregivers at CMMC for their tremendous work and compassion. Bill will be cremated and a memorial service held in the next month, date TBD.
