Fred O. Bubier

Date of Death: October 8, 2011

Date of Birth: June 2, 1943

Biography:

AUBURN — Fred O. Bubier, 68, of Greene, died Oct. 8, at the Hospice House with family by his side following a heart attack suffered on Sept. 11.

He was born in Lewiston, June 2, 1943, to Chester and Mary (Britton) Bubier. He was raised on a farm in Greene and educated at the Patten School and Greene Central School. He was a 1962 graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner.

On Feb. 22, 1964, he married Sandra Bowie in Greene. Over the course of his life, he was fortunate to work in areas that were tied to his roots. He worked alongside his brother, Carl in construction. He owned a cattle trailer in which he transported many prize cattle for the Brigg's farm in Turner. In more recent years, Fred continued to transport livestock for Bubier Packing in Greene, and thoroughly enjoyed his weekly visit to Boston for the livestock auctions with Wayne Bubier.

Fred spent many hours working on vehicles with Dennis Green, riding on a logging truck to the mill with Tony Philbrook, and having coffee each day at Mower's Market. Each year, he looked forward to his week long vacation at the Fryeburg Fair and was missed by many this year. Above all, he enjoyed his time spent over the years as caretaker of the Hill Top!

Mr. Bubier is survived by his wife of 47-plus years; sisters, Evelyn Wagg, Geraldine Creamer, June Prescott and husband, John, Esther Randolph and husband, Richard and Judy Austin and husband, Barry; brothers, Stanley and wife, Penny, Earle and wife, Marion and Randy and wife, Joyce; sister-in-law, Barbara Bubier; brother-in-law, Cliff Thompson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Alice Bowie; brother, Carl; sisters, Inez Thompson and Rose Hanson; brothers-in-law, Stanwood Hanson, William Creamer and William Wagg; and three nephews, Gary Bubier, Ross Wood and Andy Parker.

A heartfelt thank-you to extended family and friends for their caring support over the last few weeks.

There will never be another Fred Bubier and we'll miss him very much. Stop in to Mower's Market and have a coffee in his memory some morning.

As per Fred's request, there will be a graveside service at Valley Cemetery in Greene at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14.
