Biography:
BATH – James Stanley Baker, 78, of Bath died at the age of 78 on July 4, 2014 at Winship
Green Nursing Center.
He was born in Woolwich, the son of Clyde and Evelyn (Buffinton) Baker. He grew up in Woolwich and attended school there, as well as Morse High School in Bath. Jim served in the Air Force, and during his enlistment he flew over Germany taking many pictures of the area, including Hitler’s Mountain Fortress. Coming home at the end of his enlistment, he married the love of his life, Carol Thayer, thus starting his life as a family man.
Jim loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He loved to cook, and had a great sense of humor! He drove big rigs for many years in Florida, and later went on to own a pet store. He loved old cars and worked with the sale of them at auctions. In his free time he and his buddy Dale McNally were out fishing as often as they could.
James had 11 children and step children. His children Bonnie and Stanley were by his side often in the last few weeks of his life. He is survived by two sisters, Barbara Plant and her partner Neil Page, and Virginia and her husband Norman Kenney; a good friend Emily Moore; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his cat, Baby Cat.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Church of the Nazarene in Bath. A reception will be held following the service.
