Biography:

YARMOUTH - Frederick George Anthony, 84, passed away peacefully on January 3rd at Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Medford, Mass. on Sept.7th, 1932 to Frederick and Dorothy Anthony. Frederick, or Ray as some called him, attended school in Foxboro, Mass where he graduated from high school in 1951. He was an exemplary athlete, and excelled in football, basketball and track, most notably where he was a decorated 400m sprinter!

After graduating from high school, Frederick joined the United States Air Force. Frederick met his future wife, Mary Canam, in 1959 while stationed in Presque Isle Maine. They were married on April 16, 1960. Frederick served from 1952 to 1973 when he retired.

After retiring from the Air Force, Frederick worked at the United States Post Office in Portland from 1973 to 2006, when he retired.

Frederick was a modest man who loved his family and loved get togethers. He also enjoyed gardening and fishing in Canada with his wife's family. He loved to eat out, go to his children and grandchildren's sporting events, but most of all he will be remembered for the kind, giving man he was.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Carla Cash and her husband Robert Cash of Otisfield, his son John Anthony and his wife Marilyn Anthony of Norwell Mass., his daughter Nancy Goan and her husband Greg Goan of Westbrook, his daughter Jo Moody and her husband John Moody of Parsonsfield and his daughter Dorothy Molina and her husband Yoel Molina of Miami, Fl; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by his brother John Anthony and his sister Nancy Waterman.

A celebration of his life will be held in the summer and he will then be buried at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
