I and my mother and family are very heavy hearted hearing of Richard's passing. He was a dear family friend and mentor for my parents when we found ourselves in Maine after Three Mile Island. I was only a boy then in 1980 and yet in those few beautiful years we shared Thanksgiving with his family in the Rufus Jones home, treasured Sunday volleyball games at their next home, loved pushing his boys in their garden cart around the yard and falling for Mimi at that. The intervening years have been very hard and we are sorry for a lot of the pain which none could help, and yet we give thanks and grace for the love and peace which he deserved and appeared to find at last. We wish that we could have been there for his memorial service. Please accept our fond memories and prayers in peace, Stefan Topolski

Sorry to hear of his passing. His Grandmother Sally was my Grandmother Alice Whelpley MacNair's older sister. I remember his father very well and visited them in New Hampshire many years ago. I remember "Aunt Sally" visiting my Grandmother, who would talk about her a lot. They were close.
